Meet Elvis

Filed under: Percy — carolyn @ 6:23 pm

Mom explained that Elvis is always elusive (I had to look up that word, but I like it now almost as much as I like the word “cravat” which can mean almost anything). But today, we finally caught Elvis on film.

He’s a cute little guy who fights hard but then runs away.

I think I’m pretty smitten with him.
Mr. Cute Boy

His mom told me that he had buck teeth. You can only see them at special moments, like this one.

Of course, I still love Maggie very much, and she loves me.

Here’s more Maggie because it’s been way too long since Mom put her up on the blog.

All Kinds of Dogs!

Filed under: Percy — carolyn @ 2:36 pm

What a great day at the beach. Buster and I had another date but I also fancied a couple of others big boys. First, my favorite picture of the day. Me and Buster!
Tugging

I got it away from him once, and he didn’t like that very much!
Give it back!

Here’s Buster and his mom.
Buster and his Mom

We met a Newfoundland, Beau, though he wasn’t always on his best behavior. Here he is with me in the surf. Can you tell how big he is? Mostly, I ignored him and played fetch because once that retrieving toy goes in the drink, my entire being needs to get it. By the way, Beau weights 145 pounds.
Newfoundland

And then we met Grog, a French Mastiff or Dogue de Bordeaux. I’d never met one before and I learned that they are descended from one of the Ur-Dogs, the Roman Molssus. In the Middle Ages, they were used as hunting dogs. Wow! And to think the me and my other Goldendoodles have only been around for about 5 years.
Grog's lovely mug

Grog was so cool! He setup guard and protected the entire Pacific Ocean; well, until Buster and I ran after the kong, and then mostly, he wanted to play. “But not too much water,” he kept saying to me.
Grog is cute

Do you have any idea how big that mouth is?
Grog 4

He didn’t seem that big to me, but his dad said he weighed almost 140 pounds. Wow! Two dogs bigger than Buster in one day. I swoon…..

Maybe someday, we’ll see him in a show. He’s only 15 months old and has a great career ahead of him.

What a day!

Drizzle at the Beach

Filed under: Percy — carolyn @ 11:29 am

Mom took me to the beach. Finally! I keep telling her that I don’t mind that it is foggy and drizzly and that the water is freezing cold (60 degrees).

I still love it!
Beach Runner

Mom brought a tennis ball. I liked chasing it but didn’t always remember to bring it all the way back. Still, me and my tongue had fun running after it.
Tongue Slinger

Sometimes a tennis ball is a lot like a mouse or a piece of fluff on the floor and requires being pounced upon.
pounce!

I indulged Mom and posed for her at the end. Okay, maybe I was a little bit tired, but don’t tell her, K?

There be pugs!

Filed under: Percy — carolyn @ 1:52 pm

Mom, Mom! There are pugs in there.
pugs in there

Can I play with them? Huh, Mom? Can I, can I?
Pugs.

See, see! There’s one. There’s Maggie. There she is.
Reflected Maggie

editor’s note: we had hoped to catch Elvis, but not this time.

I am very cute

Just in case you didn’t know.
Hi.

And, yes, I know exactly where my bed begins and ends, thank you very much.

All I want for Christmas is a new couch to destroy.

Percy survived the dog sitters…

Filed under: Percy — carolyn @ 1:50 pm

But did the dog sitters survive Percy? She ate Erik’s carpet. And fortunately Mark left her at my house while he was out because she had after the couch (I now only have two cushions along the back instead of three).

But she was a happy dog. No surprise there, even though I was gone for a over a week.

Yesterday, I picked her up and all she did was sleep (a lot of playing with Seamus). Today, I took her for a long morning walk and then to the beach. I said “Beach?” and she cocked her head. I grabbed the towel and she about jumped out of her fur. It was hilarious.

Last time we went, we lost the Air Kong, and I forgot to get another (on this list for this afternoon). So, I took a ball and she wasn’t much interested in it. She played with other dogs and romped in the sand without getting totally wet. Fine by me.

Beach Dog

She is such the beach dog. Of course, it helps when it is 75 degrees December 20. (That’s for all of you in the throes of winter).

The Second Date

Filed under: Percy — carolyn @ 1:55 pm

On a second date, there is much less worry. Spinach in your teeth might not end everything, for example. Still, I did my best to shake into my Special Coat while waiting for Buster this morning.
How many ways does my fur go?

I made sure everything was clean.
Buster's Coming!

There he is!
He's Here

We played keep-away.
Kong Fight

And wrestled. Look at those becoming fangs!
Bite me

Sometimes, he gets a little bossy, but I like that.
I want it now!

Here’s his coy look.
I'm also coy.
